This has been kept at the forefront during the design and construction process of each vessel and trailer to ensure your safety and enjoyment while on the water, easy of cleaning and when doing routine maintenance
Gel Coat and Fibreglass
- only Lloyds approved woven structural fibreglass matting, resins and gel coats (exterior finish) are used to build the ATOMIC range
- the gel coat of all aspects of the vessel must be washed regularly with a mild detergent and a soft cloth to remove all the salt, grime and industrial pollutants
- ideally apply an glass-fibre wax to all surfaces at least 2-4 times per annum, in fact the more the better, this will certainly extend the new appearance and shine of the gel coat
- if certain shinny areas cannot be restored with wax application, then buffing with a rubbing compound, thereafter waxing
- there are various suppliers of quality products, based on our experience and client feedback we highly recommend the 3M range of waxes and rubbing compounds
- ATOMIC decks and gunwales do have sections of anti-slip profile with specialised paint, notwithstanding care should be taken as wax surfaces can be slippery
- NEVER use any strong detergents, solvents or aggressive chemicals
Fibregalss/Gel Coat Stains and Scratches
- hulls are constructed from layers of woven fibreglass matting and resin with a gel coat on exterior, the gel coat has a smooth and shiny finish
- in the event of scratches, do not attempt to repair with contacting us, our team of professionals with advise on how to reinstate stains and scratches
- NEVER use any strong detergents, solvents or aggressive chemicals
Mooring of Boat
- when leaving your boat in water be it marine or fresh for prolonged periods you will notice a slimy green algae appears on the hull of your craft
- the following must be avoided at all times: strong detergents, abrasive cloths, scrubbers and pad, a soft cloth will generally be suffice
- regular inspections of the paint on hull bottom should be carried out, if it requires repainting, there is a very specific process, contact us and we will run you through it
- the paint is a very specific RAL reference and is readily available from ATOMIC POWER BOATS
- post painting relaunch time frames anything up to 48hrs may be required, we will confirm based on your specific requirements
- NEVER use any strong detergents, solvents or aggressive chemicals
Upholstery
- all vinyl and fabric cushions and cladded surfaces must be washed with a mild soap solution and soft cloth only
- fabrics and cushions must ideally be left in a well ventilated area, mildew could form if they are not in a ventilated area while drying
- keep out of direct sunlight where possible during the drying process
- if you decide not to wash your boat after a trip then don’t leave seats and cushions wet, always dry off
- never leave any wet clothing, diving gear in the boat
- its strongly advised to cover your boat when not in use, this will protect the upholstery and the gel coat
- NEVER use any strong detergents, solvents or aggressive chemicals
Polycarbonate Windshield
- glass cleaning agents should not be used on polycarbonate products
- to avoid scratching never wipe before washing with soap
- when washing always use a soft rag and a mild detergent
- all salt and other particles like industrial pollutants and fine sand must be washed off regularly
- when towing bitumen type (tar), oils and other petroleum products may deposit on the windscreen, must be removed with the proper solvents and not left for too long
- various polycarbonate protective cleaners are also readily available and should be used, this will certainly keep your windshield looking newer for longer
- check with your local supplier, be sure to purchase the correct cleaning agents, the incorrect application will irreversibly damage the polycarbonate

Aluminium Powder Coated Surfaces
- many boat owners only hose down after use, it’s imperative to wash down and dried properly with a soft rag and mild detergents to ensure that all salt is dislodged and removed
- use of harsh chemicals will certainly affect steel and aluminium products and are not to be used under any circumstances
- be sure to remove all soap particles as this may leave stains on the aluminium or powder coated surfaces
- do not forget to clean the perimeters of the GRP or Bimini roof tops as they can stain if left as is after salt water exposure
- if you replace or upgrade electronic systems on the craft at any stage make sure a qualified marine technician checks for stray currents that may be present in all steel and aluminium
- the correctly specified coated marine wiring must be used at all times, tin coated silicone wire is generally recommended
- for aluminium fittings be sure to apply an specialized protection product a minimum of once a year
- routine inspections, maintenance and repair may be required concerning fixings, spacers, seals etc, this will undoubtedly prolong the new appearance and certainly the life
- moisture and salt is the enemy and leads to small indentations and discolouration

Stainless Steel Care and Maintenance
- it is very important to regularly and routinely clean your various stainless components and fittings on your vessel
- although stainless is a relatively hard and tough metal, it still requires washing with a mild soap solution and soft rag
- after washing a protective wax should be applied at least a number of times per year, if this is not done it will most certainly corrode
- without proper care even the best stainless steel will corrode

Battery Care
- batteries should always remain in the battery housings supplied
- housing are to remain closed and secured at all times to the boat with tie down type straps to avoid possibly lift off and banging
- manufacturers (OEM’s) of the various outboard brands will recommend specific cranking batteries for your outboards based on battery capacity and technology
- its advised to regularly connect batteries to a trickle discharge and charge system, this will pro long the life of your battery
